Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Thursday evening structure fire in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision of Puna.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Thursday evening structure fire in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision of Puna.

Firefighters responding to the 5:38 p.m. alarm found a 900-square-foot structure engulfed in flames, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. One person was home when the fire broke out but was able to escape uninjured.

Damage was estimated at $150,000. The fire was declared extinguished at 6:30 p.m.
